Scott Vernon

Cibolo Valley Baptist Church first contacted Scott A. Vernon in March of 2013 to serve as interim Music Director. There was less than a month to prepare for Easter and our new pastor’s first Sunday. Scott came on the church staff as part-time Music Director a few weeks later in April.

Scott has eleven years serving other churches in full time music ministry. Before coming to CVBC he was an active member at FBC San Antonio for eight years where he sang in the adult choir, often led worship services, and frequently was a featured soloist.

Scott has performed the Messiah Tenor solo role with San Antonio ISD and also with First United Methodist Church Fort Worth. Mr. Vernon sang with the San Antonio Chamber Chorus from 2006-2008 and also toured with the Detroit Concert Choir in England & Wales in the summers of 1991, 1994, and 1996.

Scott currently teaches full-time at Lanier HS, SAISD. Mr. Vernon began his teaching career in Spring, TX where he taught from 1990-1994. From 1994-2005 he served several churches as Minister of Music. Mr. Vernon returned to the classroom in 2005 and taught choir at San Marcos HS. He began teaching at Lanier HS in 2006.

Scott earned his Master of Music in Conducting from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft Worth, TX and his Bachelor of Music from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, TX.

Scott and his wife BJ, also is a teacher, have seven children: Sarah, Kathryn, Amber, Hunter, Hannah, Samuel and Andrew.
